Nancy Baseball Jacket
This bold, vintage red jacket is a rebirth of the vintage 1930s “letterman” jacket.
Originally worn by college attendees and sports fans, the baseball jacket became an iconic piece in style history that is still popular today.
Our jacket is made from 71% soft, recycled red wool. The quilted lining adds a layer of warmth and comfort and with the oversized fit, this jacket will quickly become a classic in your wardrobe. Damsons’ details such as the elbow patches, a boucle chest badge and applique swallow patches on the shoulder provide vintage nuances that help to create this unique streetwear piece.
For the casual but stylish wearer, we recommend wearing this over a simple Henley T-shirt and pairing it with the Tan Work Pants or your favourite pair of denim jeans. To complete the look, add some canvas sneakers and a brightly coloured beanie and you’re ready to hit the streets.
Origins: This jacket was inspired by the all-American strong-armed, left-handed pitcher, Nancy DeShone. After a powerful pitch and ultimate skill, she was scouted and drafted in 1948.
At only 16, DeShone joined the South Bend Blue Sox and was assigned as an outfielder. After playing the Fort Wayne Daisies in 1949 she decided to return to school to earn a diploma.
She went on to become a mother and stepmother to 9 children in total and juggled family life and coaching women’s softball and Little League Baseball. In 1993, Nancy became the chairperson for the 50th reunion of the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League Players Association (AAGPBL), where she coordinated activities for more of 200 former league's players at the five-day event.
